Are you new to online shopping and still do not have a Single Customs Registry (RUA)? What is it? Why should you have it? These and other questions you may have asked yourself about this registration that the General Directorate of Customs (DGA) requires.
Maybe you have not completed it because you are unaware of the benefits and disadvantages that this can bring you. In this article we answer your questions and tell you why it is vital that you have your RUA to receive your online shopping packages.
The Single Customs Registry (RUA) is a mandatory registry of the DGA to protect the rights of the user of courier services and expedite the dispatch of their purchases, which is why all customers who buy online must complete the form. Registration is done directly from the DGA website.
As of the entry into force of these tools, the packages of users who have not completed the RUA are retained by Customs until the user completes their form. This is the great importance of this requirement, since if the user is not registered, their packages cannot be delivered by the courier.
The Single Customs Registration is carried out only once and is enabled by filling out a form with the users’ personal data. The main purpose of this registry is to distinguish users who use online shopping for commercial purposes from those who only use it for personal consumption and in this way expedite the dispatch of the latter’s merchandise.
The RUA registry, which came into force in February 2018, is under Rule 01-2018 that regulates the division of merchandise through courier services. This Standard seeks to protect users from taxes on personal purchases equal to or less than US$200.00.
