This Christmas, team up with your family abroad and make the most of the 2025 “Gracia Navideña”

This Christmas, team up with your family abroad and make the most of the 2025 “Gracia Navideña”

If you have relatives living outside the country, this is the perfect time to plan how your Christmas gifts will arrive. The new 2025 “Gracia Navideña” from the Dirección General de Aduanas (Customs Authority) gives you a special benefit so you can receive more, save more, and enjoy more this holiday season.

🎁 Why should you coordinate with your family now?

Because this year, Dominicans living abroad can bring gifts and personal items worth more than US$5,500tax-free. Yes, you read that right:
more gifts, more variety, and no customs charges, as long as everything stays within the official rules.

That means your aunt, your brother, or your best friend who lives abroad can bring you those special gifts that are usually more expensive or hard to find here… without worrying about paying taxes when they arrive in the country.

Clear benefits for your family and for you

🎄1. More gifts for less money
With an allowance of over US$5,000 for personal purchases, your relatives can take advantage of international deals and bring you gifts that would normally cost you much more locally.

✈️2. Perfect for “everything in one suitcase”
Appliances, tech, clothing, perfumes… One unit per type of item is allowed, which makes this benefit the perfect opportunity to finally bring in that big, special gift you’ve been putting off for months.

👨‍👩‍👦3. It applies per family
If your relatives travel together, the benefit multiplies. They can coordinate who brings which gift so your family gets the most out of the “Gracia Navideña”.

🗓️4. Perfect timing to get organized
The benefit applies from December 1, 2025 to January 15, 2026, giving everyone time to shop, pack, and travel without rushing.

It’s the perfect excuse to start planning your Christmas gifts right now.

🔑 What should your relatives keep in mind?

To use the “Gracia Navideña”, your relatives must:

  • Have been outside the country for more than 6 months.
  • Bring purchases for personal or family use only, not for resale.
  • Respect the rule of one unit per type of item (especially for appliances).
  • Present invoices and documents such as their passport.

Everything is simple, transparent, and designed to make it easier for Christmas gifts to reach Dominican homes.
